Solar Anamnesis — Meteorite Thin Section Gigapixel Microphotography
Meteorite Thin Section Gigapixel Photography
Solar Anamnesis is a collection of high-resolution gigapixel mosaics of polished meteorite thin sections photographed under cross-polarized light (XPL) and visible light using a petrographic microscope. Each image is a multi-hundred-frame mosaic stitched into a single navigable gigapixel panorama.
The collection spans every major meteorite class: ordinary chondrites (H, L, LL), carbonaceous chondrites (CV, CM, CO, CR, CK, CH), enstatite chondrites, Rumuruti chondrites, Martian meteorites (shergottites), lunar meteorites, achondrites (HED, angrites, aubrites, ureilites, acapulcoites, lodranites, brachinites), pallasites, mesosiderites, and irons. Notable specimens include Allende, Murchison, Chelyabinsk, Tissint, Zagami, Ozerki, and Pasamonte.
